Life Line Screening was started in 1993 in Austin, TX as a wellness and preventive health center. Currently, the company runs multiple community based facilities in the US where health screening services are offered.
Preparing for Life Line Screening
The type of screening dictates the preparations required. In fact, some of the screening tests such as elevated C-reactive protein test require no preparation at all. Some tests such as screening for diabetes and glucose levels require the patients to fast for 8 hours. Other tests such as the bone density test which screens for osteoporosis require that the patient does not wear tight clothing.
Patients are required to wear loose clothing when they are attending abdominal aortic aneurism screening, atrial fibrillation screening, carotid artery disease screening and peripheral arterial disease screening. When going for multiple screening tests, more preparation may be needed depending on the type of screening.
What to Expect During Life Line Screening
Different activities are undertaken during the actual screening tests. The expectations are therefore guided by the type of test to be done. However, some steps are common in all screening tests. All patients start at the welcome desk where they are welcomed, fill in their check-in forms and make any payments as necessary. They then proceed to the waiting area from which their names are called out to proceed to private screening area.
For blood tests, simple and safe finger stick samples are obtained from one of their fingers. Other measurements such as weight, height and blood pressure may be taken. Other tests such as bone density tests, peripheral arterial disease screening, abdominal aortic aneurism screening, atrial fibrillation testing, and carotid artery screening are non invasive.
Benefits of Life Line Screenings
The screening services enable early identification of different patients’ health problems before they become serious making their treatment easier. This enables the patients to be prevented from potential health complications before it is too late. The screenings are also used to rule out suspected health problems hence assure patients of their wellbeing leaving them with the peace of mind.
